How the Bible Became The Bible.

Welcome to Off the Beaten Path, the show for exploring new ideas and meeting interesting people, with your host Lynn Ward. Today Lynn, aka The Red Hot Mama, interviews Donald O’Dell, author of How the Bible Became the Bible.
Recipient, non-fiction category, Florida Writers Association 2006 Royal Palm Literary Award.
The Florida Writers Association ( www.floridawriters.net ) awarded, How the Bible became the Bible, the winner in the non-fiction category of the 2006 Royal Palm Literary Award contest.

Don got his formal theological training at Princeton Theological Seminary, served as a Presbyterian minister and then went on to become a businessman. Along the way he had his own transformation and is a recovering alcoholic.
Although Don backs his book with scholarly research, this book is readable – written for the average person. He puts it into both a historical and spiritual context for thought provoking reading for both the Christian and non-Christian.
Join us as Don discusses:
• His motivation for writing this book
• The history of the Bible
• Who wrote the Bible
• How the Bible was compiled
• The difference in using the Bible as a spiritual & moral guide and a literal instruction manual
Don says: “I just want readers to wake up to the reality of the transforming love of God that can change their life. I believe there are far too many people whose faith is not really in the Love of God, that has transformed their lives. Their faith is in the Bible.”
His hope is that, no matter what one’s religious bent, that each one of us will “Be transformed. Learn that the universe is not an evil scary place, but a loving and supportive one.”
